Whole Foods and Burlington are coming to the Ambassador Caffery in Lafayette location. A month ago we passed by the store and it is close to completion. I am surprised that it sat empty for so long because that area of Lafayette is one of the main areas for retail.
This magazine has some additional pictures of the former Lafayette Super Kmart Center, including one of the interior. Apparently it was supposed to be converted into a high school at some point but those plans were scrapped. http://www.bluetoad.com/publication/?i=52059
I wonder why they closed or converted most of the Super Kmart store if they was supposed to be the future of Kmart. I hope to cover all 7 of the ones still open in Ohio and most of the converted ones in the state by the end of the year. I plan to cover all Super Kmart stores in a 200 mile radius (Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia). I probally won't be able to cover other former or still open stores in New York, Indiana, and Illinois for a while.
Whole foods did NOT come to Lafayette. The Burlington Coat Factory store opened, as did Conn's Electronics. Baskins (a western wear store) is currently remodeling a small portion of the remaining open space.
