I actually built a replica of a KMart exterior minus the sign from legos
ReplyDeleteThat's definitely not the Waynesboro, PA store pictured.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Looks like Waynesboro, VA.
DeleteCorrect!
DeleteAre the stores that appear to still be open but no longer have a sign in the process of being converted to Super Kmarts? Just curious why the original sign would be removed before a new or temporary sign could be put in place.
ReplyDeleteSuper Kmart is a dead concept so sadly no. Some stores are just removing the "Big" sign and keeping the K.
DeleteI thought the "store within a store" Super Kmarts, if and when converted, would offer a full grocery section (e.g. deli counter, bakery) which would offer more than Target's PFresh.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the "store within a store" would have fresh grocery but no actual deli or seafood dept. So you can get prepackaged meats and cheese, but nobody is there to slice it for you. Wal-mart has some locations like this.
Deletethat last pic with no location on it looks like the big k here in anderson, indiana...
ReplyDeleteIt was a classic Kmart design from about 1973 till 1984.
DeleteAm I correct in assuming that those stores which have a smaller entrance arch over what would be the garden shop area (similar to the main entry arch) were stores intended to be expanded?
ReplyDeleteCorrect. Usually in the store there is no "door" to go in the garden center and instead, theres a huge opening or, no wall at all.
