Humble Texas has been redeveloped into an Academy and Burlington. They have redeveloped the whole site in the past year and the pad sites in the front. Logans, Cheddars, and a strip center have been built in front of the site. Down the street Garden Ridge closed and reopened in the same building a few years later.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the information, I have updated the page.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add that the San Antonio 410 location is still closed and in terrble shape. I have that location on my blog to view up close.
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting me know. The location looks more dilapidated than it should be. It would be nice to see some kind of use happen to the store.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.kansas.com/2011/11/20/2109692/lampert-plans-to-remake-sears.html check out this Sears article.
ReplyDeleteThe article seems to really be accurate, It does seem like Eddie does not like operating stores and would rather just let franchisers run the company along with licensing out brands to other stores. Did you know that Sears is now allowing people to own franchise Sears Auto Centers. You may be interested in this; I put up a link to some interior pictures of San Antonio's 410 Super Kmart. It is amazing how much it fell apart since 2003.
ReplyDeleteDo you have the link to the interior pictures of the store? The link is now broken.
DeleteH-E-B Plus demolished the original Super Kmart Center. It is not the same store.
ReplyDeleteAnybody know what year the Kmart at 2735 Austin Highway in San Antonio closed? ANy pictures of the old store?
ReplyDeleteThe Houston- 8400 Westheimer Road demolished the original Kmart location. That spot was also the location of a major screw up for HPD who arrested a bunch of people for street racing, while some folks were street racing the majority weren't. Mainly the people who were arrested were at Kmart and nearby Sonic. Something like 500 people were arrested and taken to jail, and around half of them had the charges dropped after a night in jail. It was a major major screw up on HPD's part.
ReplyDeleteThe relation to Kmart is that this area of Houston is predominantly lower income minorities. That Kmart location prior to the raid was one of the only Hypermarkets on the West side of town and was constantly busy. After the raid though the area had a stigma because customers feared that another raid may happen. After the raids that place was a ghost town, it was insane how much business dropped. The store managed to hang on another year till the 2003 store closings, but at that point Kmart decided to pull out of Houston all together.
Also Rosenburg is spelled Rosenberg.
